Patient Support Services
Baltimore Medical System (BMS) is committed to increasing access
to health care by reducing or eliminating barriers faced by many
patients. We have developed a broad range of patient support services
and programs to accomplish this goal.
Specialty Care Referral Coordination
BMS has staff members at every health center to assist patients
in making appointments for specialty care and diagnostic testing.
Our staff members will contact the specialist directly to schedule
patient appointment - often times being able to obtain appointments
sooner than patients can on their own.
Health Benefits Advisement
BMS staff are available to assist patients in determining if they
are eligible for public health benefits.
These may include:
- BMS Sliding Fee Discounts
- Maryland State Programs
- Medicaid and Medicare programs
- Special Services Provided by Grants
- Free Cancer Screening Services
- Discounted Medications
In many cases, BMS staff can assist in qualifying patients in enrollment.
Sliding Fee Scale Discounts
BMS offers discounted fees of up to 90% for qualified
patients. Eligibility
is based on family size and household income. To quality, please bring ONE of the following:
- Current year's tax form (1040 form)
- 2 current pay stubs
- 1 unemployment stub
- Letter from employer on letterhead that states your salary or
wages
- Award or benefit letter
- A letter
of reference from any 501C3 organization on their letterhead (for
example, your church).
