At BMS, we measure our success in meeting our goals through an Annual Strategic Report Card. The Report Card lists the goals and objectives for the year and provides all BMS employees with a quarterly assessment of how well we are doing in meeting our goals.
Our goals are organized in five categories:
- Mission Perspective
- Customer Perspective
- Financial Perspective
- Internal Business and Systems Perspective
- Learning & Growth Perspective
Some goals are unique for the year, representing a major change that we need to make in our ability to serve our patients. Other goals remain constant, such as keeping our staff turnover low and keeping patient satisfaction high.
Some examples of current goals are:
Mission:
- Build a new Highlandtown Health Center to relieve overcrowding in our present facility and increase our capacity to provide comprehensive health services in east Baltimore.
- Focus our efforts on helping patients of all ages to achieve a healthy body weight.
- Increase our efforts to reduce smoking in our patient population.
Customers:
- Continue to grow our overall volume of visits and number of patients served.
- Decrease the length of time that the average patient waits to speak to a customer service representative when calling to schedule an appointment.
- Expand our ability to meet the Pediatric and OB/Gyn needs of patients.
- Make our health centers more accessible to patients with Limited English Proficiency
Financial:
- Increase net income from operations.
- Raise funds for the Ian J. Gray Fund and the new Highlandtown Health Center.
- Reduce the average cost of providing a health care visit.
Internal:
- Implement at all health centers the Electronic Health Record to improve the quality of our medical care.
- Improve our rate of collections on billed services.
Learning & Growth:
- Continually improve our cultural competence, through training of staff.
- Conduct personnel performance reviews on a timely basis.
- Recruit more bilingual (Spanish speaking) staff and train them to be medical interpreters.
