Goals and Capital Needs

The number of uninsured and underinsured patients seeking health care at Baltimore Medical System continues to grow. Yet funding and reimbursements are often highly dependent on public policy, and frequently fluctuate dramatically based on the outcome of elections and the flexibility within state and national budgets.

In spite of this ongoing challenge, BMS continues to meet and even expand its mission by creatively and aggressively pursuing new revenue sources. We compete for funding from public and private resources.

Generally speaking, it is much more difficult for BMS to raise capital dollars then to raise program support dollars. This is especially true given our slim margins (1-3%) which do not allow for reinvestment of excess revenues into capital projects.

Yet our needs in this area are great. They range from from small capital projects such as replacing old and failing computers, exam room tables and essential medical equipment, to much larger capital projects such as replacing our two largest health center facilities.

Please consider a gift or donation to Baltimore Medical System in support of our mission to provide health care to the medically underserved.
